2 top BIR-12 officials reassigned

GENERAL Santos City–The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has ordered the reassignment of two revenue district officers (RDO) in Region 12 as part of its ongoing nationwide revamp.

Lawyer Franklin Ladores, chief of the BIR revenue district office 110 here, said he will formally assume next week as the new RDO of district office 92 in Pagadian City based on a directive issued last week by BIR Commissioner Kim Henares.

“This is a normal personnel movement within the agency. In fact, the order is quite overdue,” he told reporters.

Ladores, who was RDO of district 110 for nearly four years, was given 15 days to complete his transfer to Pagadian City.

BIR’s district 110, which is under its Revenue Region No. 18, covers this city and the seven municipalities of Sarangani Province.

He will be replaced by Venerando Homez, who is currently acting RDO of district office 108 in Kidapawan City.

Replacing Homez is RDO Judith Pacana of district office 101 in Iligan City.

Ladores admitted the ongoing revamp was due to the failure of most revenue district offices, including district office 110 here, to meet their collection goals this year.

For 2013, he said the BIR central office increased their collection goal to 26 percent over last year or “roughly one-fourth” of their 2012 collection.

As of August, Ladores said their total revenue collections in the area reached P1.125 billion, which is short by P90 million based on its P1.215 billion target for the period.

“We did our best to meet our target but as of August we only accomplished around 20 percent,” he said.

The BIR central office earlier said in a statement that its total revenue collections as of last August reached P118.11 billion, which is up by P21.35 billion or 22.07 percent when compared to the same period last year.

But it said the collections were P372 million or 0.31 percent short of the bureau’s revenue goal of P118.48 billion. (MindaNews)
