ILIGAN CITY, Lanao del Norte, June 22 (PIA) — A P7-million water supply facility in Sendong will be installed in a resettlement site for Sendong survivors at Bayanihan Village in Iligan City.
This after a memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed between Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse Robredo and Iligan City Mayor Lawrence Cruz for the implementation of 2012 Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat (Salintubig).
The MOA signing ceremony highlighted the department’s information caravan dubbed “Tapatan” held at the Grand Caprice Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City last June 21.
The Salintubig Program is designed to provide water supply systems for the 455 waterless municipalities barangays, health centers, and resettlement sites; and enhance the capacity of the local government units/water service providers in the planning, implementation, and operation of water supply facilities. It was established in 2010 thru a MOA signed between DILG and the Department of Health and the National Anti-Poverty Commission.
For 2011, the program covers 115 waterless municipalities, 62 waterless barangays, 55 waterless health centers, and 24 waterless resettlement sites, using the P 1.5 billion worth of funds released to Department of Budget and Management.
For 2012, the Program will be transferred to DILG and will cover 150 municipalities, 43 barangays, 46 health centers, and 12 resettlement sites.
The remaining 290 of the 455 waterless municipalities, and a number of waterless barangays, health centers, and resettlements sites will be covered from 2013 TO 2016. (Melvin T. Anggot & Virgilio C. Garcia/CIO/lorry v.gabule/PIA 10-LDN)
