Cebu City police launches ‘Oplan Joshua’ to curb crime

CEBU CITY – The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has launched “Oplan Joshua” to drum up community support in curbing crime in the city in the coming year 2014.

Albay to embark on P321 M road network project in 2014 to develop upland areas

LEGAZPI CITY – The province of Albay will pursue in 2014 the construction of a road network that involves a total amount of P321 million, which is included in the 2014 General Appropriations Act.

The project, part of the Guicadale Economic Platform, will expand the developable land area of Albay by 81,123 hectares, mostly around the South Luzon International Airport (SLIA) that is now undergoing construction, according to Albay Gov. Cotabato vital bridge to limit access to light vehicles

COTABATO CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will strictly enforce starting Jan.1,2014 a limited tonnage of all vehicles passing through dilapidated Quirino Bridge that connects this city to North Cotabato, Lanao del Sur and Bukidnon.

GenSan readies ward for New Year revelry victims

GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Health authorities have prepared a special ward at the city hospital in preparation for the possible influx of victims of firecracker explosions and other related incidents during and after the New Year’s Eve revelries.

Dr. Edgardo Sandig, city health officer, said they have set aside eight beds at the hospital’s emergency section and assigned four doctors for the treatment of firecracker victims who will be brought to the facility. Read more about GenSan readies ward for New Year revelry victims

Zambo mayor cancels New Year countdown, fireworks display

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The city government had cancelled the New Year countdown and fireworks display, Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar announced Monday.

Albayanos warmly welcome Bicolana 2013 Miss International

LEGAZPI CITY – Amid a sunny last day of 2013 and with the majestic Mayon volcano providing the background, hundreds of Albayanos swarmed in the Legazpi Domestic airport to warmly welcome newly crowned 2013 Miss International Bea Rose Santiago, a Bicolana from Cataingan, Masbate.

Bacolod, Neg Occ police intensify campaign against banned firecrackers

BACOLOD CITY – Operatives of the Bacolod City Police Office and the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) confiscated prohibited firecrackers in separate operations here in the past days.

According to the police, banned firecrackers include pla-pla, judas belt, big bawang, atomic bomb, og, piccolo, giant whistle bomb, goodbye Philippines, boga, pill box, lolo thunder, mother rockets, napoles and yolanda. Zambo mayor: Release teacher Cathy; stop kidnapping teachers

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar has appealed to the kidnappers to release public school teacher Cathy Mae Casipong, whom they seized last Dec. 18 of this city.
