MEMBERS of the influential Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) in Northern Mindanao will converge in Cagayan de Oro City today in time for the religious sect’s annual Regional Unity Games.
At 5 a.m. today, INC members from the provinces of Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, Lanao del Norte, and from the Island of Camiguin will assemble at the Pelaez Sports Complex for the Unity Run.
The Unity Run will start from Pelaez Sports Complex to Bulua junction and will end at the Pelaez Sports Center where the human formation and formal opening and declaration of all games.
Aside from Pelaez Sports Complex, some events of the Regional Unity Games will also be held at the Xavier Sports and Country Club in Upper Balulang, also in Cagayan de Oro City.
The organizers said the Regional Unity Games is an annual event of the Iglesia Ni Cristo ecclesiastical districts all over the world.
Designated safety and security teams of the church are closely monitoring the activities to prevent heavy flow of traffic.
“The members, who will be travelling by buses, vans, and even private cars, have respective designated parking areas to avoid heavy flow of traffic and over-crowding,” said the organizers adding, that its has also created the needed medical and emergency response team.
Authorities from Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental have already been informed about the annual activity, added the organizers in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by Mindanao Daily News.
It said: “INC is not only united in the spiritual aspects but also in the physical well being of every individual.”
