National attention may no longer be focused on the destruction caused by Super Typhoon Odette but leading telecommunications company Globe Telecom remains unrelenting in helping affected families who are yet to return to their normal lives.
In Subic, employee volunteers took time off to distribute food packs containing rice, canned goods, instant noodles, and coffee to 400 families.
The relief operations were held at Subic Sports Complex in Brgy. Wawandue which was used as an evacuation center for 135 families; and Sitio Pilapil in Brgy. Sto. Tomas, one of the hardest hit areas in the province.
“Assistance to the victims does not stop just because the typhoon is long gone. As long as our kababayans need us, we’re always here to lend a helping hand to help them recover from their ordeal,” said Fernando Esguerra, OIC, Globe Corporate Social Responsibility.
Globe Telecom’s concern is not limited to victims of calamities. Even as the armed conflict in Zamboanga City has already abated, the company still extends support to soldiers who are conducting clearing out operations in the area.
Through Globe CSR’s Bridging Communities, 181 boxes containing 40 350ml bottled water each were sent to Zamboanga City to address the basic needs of the soldiers.
Earlier, Globe conducted Libreng Tawag operations for displaced families in the city as well as opened up its GCASH facilities for donations to the victims of the Zamboanga siege and Typhoon Odette.
