MUNTINLUPA CITY – The Muntinlupa City government will send at least 30 volunteers to its “adopted” towns of Alangalang and Jaro in Leyte to help in the rehabilitation of communities devastated by typhoon Yolanda.
Mayor Jaime Fresnedi and Congressman Rodolfo Biazon will lead some 30 volunteer health, rescue and relief workers contingent to assess the needs of the communities and what can be done right away.
“It is our privilege to be part of the rehabilitation of Alangalang and Jaro because the people of Muntinlupa have the opportunity to be part of a lasting legacy—the rebuilding of lives,” Mayor Fresnedi, in a statement said.
“We believe that in the spirit of Christmas, the best gift we can give our kababayan in Leyte is the gift of hope,” Fresnedi added.
The City Council passed a resolution authorizing the release of P5 million to Alangalang and Jaro to start the rehabilitation drive.
Muntinlupa City has also sent financial aid amounting to P57,000.00 collected from the city government employees. (Muntinlupa City/RJB/SDL/PIA-NCR)
