Son kills Ma, Pa wont press charges

MISAMIS Oriental––A 16-year-old boy killed his mother in a remote village of Villanueva, Misamis Oriental on Tuesday morning.

Mila Cambe, a mother of five siblings, died of fatal stabbed wounds on arrival at a hospital here Tuesday morning.

The suspect, Jonathan, the eldest son told police that he got no option but stabbed his mother when the later tried to set their house on fire in the village of San Roque in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.

He said his mother started pouring gas on their house and was already in the act of setting it on fire when he tried to prevent her to no avail.

The boy’s father Gerry told police that his wife was acting strangely for the past weeks. “She had been shouting invectives the whole night for the past weeks and we were already alarmed of her condition,” he said.

He said he did not know what to do since the family has no money to see a doctor for her. “We feel helpless, but we could not do anything,” the elder Cambe said.

He said he will not press charges against his son because “he really did not mean to hurt her mother.”

“The boy stabbed her mother because he could not control her fury anymore. Had the mother succeeded in setting the house on fire, the whole village would be razed,” Cambe said. CD
