SOMINOT, Zamboanga del Suyr – Mayor Stephen Acosta of this town has expressed his gratitude to the Mindanao Communicators’ Newtwork (MindaComNet) for spearheading the conduct of information caravan here last Thursday which was attended by 22 national government agencies (NGAs).
The infocar brought the different line agencies to the municipality to give and apprise the townsfolk of their programs and services that aim to reduce proverty in the area. (more…)
DOLE-Isabela City turns-over livelihood assistance worth P.5-M

ISABELA CITY, Basilan – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) here recently turned-over almost half a million worth of livelihood assistance to some 60 beneficiaries.
As part of the Isabela town pre-fiesta celebration, DOLE offered three-in-one extravaganza where beneficiaries of the Kabuhayan Starter Kits received their respective tools, jigs, and equipment for food and native snacks preparation and vending (42 beneficiaries), sewing and dressmaking (9), electrical (1), masonry/carpentry (5), and vulcanizing and welding (3). Aklan entrepreneurs get pointers on product development

KALIBO, Aklan – A big number of entrepreneurs from the municipality of Lezo recently received inputs and advices from the Aklan Provincial Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council (PMSMEDC) when they came face to face with each other during the conduct of an Information and Advisory Sessions on Enterprise Development.
The Information and Advisory Sessions in Lezo was one of the major activities of the Provincial Government of Aklan and the PMSMEDC in observance of the 2014 Small and Medium Enterprise Development (SMED) Week observed on the 3rd week of July, according to Engr. 359 ARBs receive CLOAs

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL – The Department of Agrarian Reform North Negros gave out Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) and loan support from the Agrarian Production Credit Program (APCP) to agrarian reform beneficiaries.
About 359 ARBs from 10 municipalities received their CLOAs dividing the 397.964 hectares of land holdings.
The 10 municipalities and cities in North Negros Occidental include Escalante City, Toboso, Calatrava, Sagay City, Cadiz City, Manapla, Victorias City, E. B. Magalona, Silay City and Salvador Benedicto.
Ceremonial check amounting to a total of P17,057,184 as APCP credit support were turned over to five Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations with a total of 193 ARB-members from Cadiz, Victorias and Silay cities.
Meanwhile seven ARBOs from Escalante City, Cadiz City, E.B. Magalona, and Silay City received certificates of recognition for their initial successes in utilizing the APCP credit assistance in maintaining collective farm operations, sustaining farm employment and generating substantial dividends to ARB-members and their households.
The distribution of CLOAs and awarding of APCP loans as well as recognition of ARBOs are part of the department’s anniversary celebration.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Teresita Mabunay said that the celebration showcased the realization of CARP’s mission of securing the new ARBs’ tenure on the CARP-awarded lands, and eventual rural poverty alleviation in the agrarian reform areas.*(JCM/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
TESDA approves 5,806 scholarship slots in Eastern Visayas

TACLOBAN CITY – Some 5,805 scholarship slots have been approved by the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) central office for implementation in Eastern Visayas as of July 18 this year.
TESDA offers training for work scholarship program (TWSP) and the Private Education Student Financial Assistance (PESFA) both dedicated to technical and vocational courses. (more…)

TACLOBAN CITY – Yolanda survivors who are capable of looking for jobs should no longer rely on the government to be provided with relief assistance.

Morong wins Most Outstanding Municipality plum on nutrition

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Morong emerged as the 2013 Most Outstanding Municipality in the Province on implementation of nutrition programs, besting nearby Bagac, which championed for three straight years.
Morong garnered 98.13 to dethrone Bagac, which landed second place with 95.15 in the awarding held in Balanga City, coinciding with the Disseminating Forum on Health Cluster organized by the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and Philippine Information Agency-Bataan. (more…)
Breastfeeding pushed in evacuation centers during disasters

SAN FERNANDO CITY – Nutrition experts have advised nursing mothers to continue breasfeeding babies in evacuation areas instead of turning to infant formula milk which is not allowed in temporary shelters.
Ma. Eileen C. Blanco, Nutrition Council regional nutrition program coordinator, said mothers should continue breasfeeding despite harsh conditions in evacuation centers. (more…)
PhilHealth says members’ health coverage is on

DAGUPAN CITY – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) in Region 1 assured that members’ insurance coverage will be paid contrary to reports alleging that private hospitals will no longer honor Philhealth benefits.
Elvira Ver, vice president of PhilHealth Region 1, said members’ benefits from the corporation will be fully deducted from their hospital bills and will be recognized by their partner health providers. (more…)

LAOAG CITY – The provincial government’s roaming public service, “Manang Imee’s Capitol Express,” resumed operations two months after it was temporarily shelved.
The Capitol Express’ (or Capex) first stop on July 24 was at the Batac National High School in Payao Campus and served residents from the clustered barangays of Maipalig, Quiom, Mabaleng, Payao, Sumader and Colo, all in Batac City. (more…)
