ILIGAN CITY, Lanao del Norte – The Iligan City Police Office (ICPO)-Philippine National Police has enhanced their security measures as people are expected to be in the streets and areas of economic activities for All Saint’s and All Soul’s Day.
Every first and second days of November, the country celebrates “Araw ng mga Patay,” Todos Los Santos,” “Undas” or “Kalagkalag,” in collective remembrance of the dearly departed in a solemn way. (more…)
PHO: Measles outbreak an eye-opener

ILOILO CITY – The Iloilo Provincial Health Office (PHO) said that the recent measles outbreak in the three barangays in Maasin, Iloilo proved the vitality of immunization in controlling the spread of infections.
In a media release, PHO assistant chief Dr. Maria Socorro Quiñon said that the low immunization rate among residents caused the outbreak. (more…)
NCIP celebrates 17th Indigenous People’s Rights Act

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – To strengthen and protect the rights of the Indigenous Peoples (IP) community here, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) region 10 gathered on October 29 tribe leaders and IP community to celebrate the 17th Indigenous People’s Rights Act (IPRA).
Northern and Western Mindanao Ethnographic Commissioner Cosme M. Lambayon said that this is the 17th year since the approval of the IPRA. He said that the intent of IPRA is to strengthen and protect the rights of the indigenous community. NCIP was created to promote the rights of the tribes. (more…)

MAASIM, Sarangani – The municipality of Maasim in Sarangani recently received P12 million worth of livelihood and agriculture-based projects under the national government’s Grassroots Participatory Program (GPB).

37 bus passengers hurt in La Union road crash

SAN FERNANDO CITY – At least 37 passengers were slightly hurt when a passenger bus from Baguio City and bound for Abra slammed into a mango tree at 9:35 a.m. on Thursday (today) along the national road in barangay Paringao in Bauang town.
Chief Inspector Benjamin B. Diagan Jr., officer in charge of Bauang PNP, said the victims were taken to the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center in nearby San Fernando City for treatment. (more…)
PNP taps 50,000 force multipliers for Undas

QUEZON CITY – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has tapped augmentation force to assist in security and public safety operations during the observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.
According to PNP Spokesperson PSSUPT Wilben Mayor, the PNP is enlisting the support of 57,266 “force multipliers” composed of 29,100 Barangay Tanod and Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT), 15,229 private security guards, and 12,937 civilian volunteers. (more…)
PCG: Be at the seaports at least three hours before departure

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental – Sea passengers have been advised to be at the seaport at least three hours before departure, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), here, said.
They are also advised from bringing restricted cargo on board the ships to avoid search delays and inconveniences, Ensign John Paul Cabarrubias, commander of PCG-Ozamiz Station, said. (more…)
