LEGAZPI CITY – The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday expressed alarm over the high number of firecracker injuries in the Bicol Region which stands at 41 cases as of date or 17 percent higher than last year’s record during the monitoring period Dec. 21-28.
DOH Regional Director Gloria Balboa said that most victims are aged 7-12 years old, with Albay posting the highest number of injuries at 21, as reported by the government hospitals in the region — three each in Albay and Camarines Sur and one each in Camarines Norte, Sorsogon, Masbate and Catanduanes.
