DSWD trains area supervisors for Listahanan Household Assessment

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is set to train 172 area supervisors for the second batch, out of 331 newly-hired area supervisors within this week to prepare them for the upcoming second-round assessment of the DSWD’s Listahanan also known as the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR) scheduled within the first semester of this year.

Listahanan or the NHTS-PR or Listahanan is an information management system that the government uses in identifying who and where the poor are and is being spearheaded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Tax bureau closes food chain in CDO

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue Region 16 temporarily closed today a food chain in Cagayan de Oro City after violating the tax code.

According to Alberto Daba, regional investigation division (RID) chief, investigation showed that the establishment had understated its sales by more than 30 percent in January to June 2014, and failed to issue official receipts or sales invoice — violations of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997. GINGOOG CITY – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) granted Gingoog city a P1 million worth of Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) for the technical-vocational in the city.

Further, Abante Mindanao (ABAMIN) Party List Representative Maximo Rodriguez, Jr. and 1st District of Misamis Oriental Representative Peter Unabia provided boxes of toolkits and training allowances to city’s Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) beneficiaries. NAGA CITY — The City Government of Naga, through the Metro Naga Public Employment Service Office (Metro PESO), has invited 75 Manila-based local and overseas companies to participate in the two-day Regional Overseas and Local Job Fair to be held at SM City Naga Activity Center on May 1 and 2.

CAGAYAN DE ORO – Northern Mindanao residents planning to work abroad no longer need to go to Manila because Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Region 10 handles pre-departure orientation for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) hopefuls.

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — Staunch anti-coal power plant supporters from the Palawan Alliance for Clean Energy (PACE) is enraged with the endorsement of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Narra Wednesday of the proposed 15-megawatt power project in Barangay San Isidro, south of Palawan.

In a text message sent by PACE to the Philippines News Agency (PNA), it said that it finds the endorsement of the Sangguniang Bayan of Narra of the coal-fired power plant by the DMCI Power Corporation (DPC) as it was done without thoughtful study. ILIGAN CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry – Lanao del Norte Provincial Office has commenced its Skills Upgrading Training on Abaca Gifts, Decors and Housewares Making under the SME Roving Academy held on April 23, at the barangay hall, Pala-o, Iligan City.

Twenty women participated the training and they come from seven Micro-Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) namely: PABAHANDI, Diocesan Women Ministry, Marison Fiber Crafts, Ptsadas Crafts, Enang’s Grill and Seafood, Hillside Women Association and Sigma Pala-o Association, all from this city. BAGUIO CITY -– It is now definite. Employees in the Cordillera Administrative Region will not get a Labor Day gift in the form of a raise this May 1.

Cordillera Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board (RTWPB) member Johnny dela Cruz explained, April 29, that the body only finished its region-wide consultation for a new wage order covering the Cordillera last April 24 for the Baguio City and La Trinidad leg of the consultation caravan. ZAMBOANGA CITY – In its effort to provide the public with sufficient information on its scope of operations, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has conducted a familiarization tour for about 25 members of the local media in its area control center here in barangay Lunzuran on April 24.

Elizabeth Ladaga, Regional Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Officer for the Northern Mindanao area said that such tour is “important to have the media disseminate accurate information regarding the NGCP, its roles in power distribution as well as the issues that the corporation faces with the public”.
