CAGAYAN de Oro City––The national government has dispatched the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force (PAOCTF) to Lanao provinces to investigate the alleged abduction of the owner of the Misamis Oriental-based lumber company.
Sr. Supt. Madid Paitao of the Lanao del Norte police, said on Monday that unidentified armed men reportedly kidnapped Robert Kua, the owner of Vicmar Company in Misamis Oriental and
Findlay Miller Company in Lanao del Norte Friday afternoon last week.
Paitao said that the kidnappers also took Edwin dela Torre, the company engineer, but released the driver identified as Candido Mausisa who later reported the incident to the police.
He said that the local law enforcers in cooperation with the local government unit of Lanao Del Norte mobilized the anti-kidnapping task force only late last week because the company driver reported to the police 12 hours after the kidnapping took place.
Paitao said that the law enforcers have no idea of the group who were responsible for the kidnapping. “The police are also trying to establish the motive of the kidnapping since the suspect(s) have not issued ransom demand,” he added.
An initial police investigation disclosed that Kua, a Fil-Chinese national together with the company engineer and the driver left the Findlay Miller Company past 12 noon sometime on Nov. 16 for Misamis Oriental.
Paitao said that about five unidentified armed men reportedly flagged down the service Land Cruiser of Kua and his group in Buru-un, Linamon, Lanao del Norte past 5:00 in the afternoon.
He said that instead of reporting the incident to the Iligan City Police, the driver, who was released four hours after the incident went home to Misamis Oriental and the reported the incident the following day.
“Had the driver reported the incident earlier,,the police could have issued a province-wide alarm and mobilized all mobile forces to conduct checkpoints and blocking forces,” Paitao said.
He said that company-owned Land Cruiser service vehicle was later found abandoned in Tagolo-an, Lanao del Norte.
Paitao said that the anti-organized crime task force from Manila flew to Lanao del Norte to assist in the investigation and to help in the immediate release of the kidnapping victims. CRIS DIAZ, Exec. Editor,Mindanao Daily News
