Comelec launches on-line registration in Baguio City
BAGUIO CITY – Voters’ registration is now made easier with the Commission on Election’s iRehistro, an online filling of application for qualified voters.
Commissioner Al Parreño led Comelec national and regional officials in formally launching iRehistro in Baguio City with an on-campus registration at the University of the Cordilleras last Thursday and a press conference at the Comelec regional office.
Comelec Director IV Ferdinand De Leon explained that through iRehistro, voter registrants can now file their application anywhere by just logging on to www.irehistro.com or www.comelec.gov.ph, and can schedule online for bio-metrics appointment on a date that is more convenient to them.
There are simple steps to follow for iRehistro. After logging in to the website, applicants need only to fill-out the questions and print three copies of specialized form in legal size bond paper, which they will present with their valid ID to the office of the election officer where they intend to vote before their biometrics can be taken.
With iRehistro, Comelec offices will be unclogged with voters queing for registration.
The iRehistro Projec was launched in August 2011 and was pilot-tested in all Comelec offices in the National Capital Region. The launching in Baguio was the first out of NCR, targeting to benefit the around 150,000 voters in the city.
Meantime, Parreño called on qualified voters, old and new, whose bio-metrics have not yet been taken, to go to the Comelec offices to re-register or to use iRehistro as it is now required for all Filipino voters to have bio-metrics to be able to exercise their right to vote in the 2016 elections.
