DepEd-Misamis Occidental presents writeshop modules on open high school program

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental – Writeshop modules on the implementation of the Open High School Program (OHSP) in the Division of Misamis Occidental will be presented today in a plenary by participants of capability training for OHSP implementers.
Now on its 3rd Phase, the training-workshop is held in consonance with the Education for All (EFA) goal of the Department of Education (DepEd) of making every Filipino functionally literate by 2015, Dr. Jonathan S. Dela Peňa, Schools Division Superintendent, said.
Particularly, the workshop aims to capacitate schools to implement the OHSP and prevent potential leavers and encourage those who are out-of-school to finish high school.
It also aims to reduce the high school dropout rate and increase participation rate and orient teachers on their role as facilitators for the OHSP and develop supplementary learning modules to help increase achievement rate through quality distance education.
Meanwhile, Dela Peňa said Phase I of the training held last Nov. 12, was the conference on the Current Implementation of OHSP, of all Education Program Supervisors (ESP) and Public School Secondary Heads of 16 high schools in the division.
Phase II held last Dec. 16, was for the guidance counselors and designates, OHSP Coordinators and OHSP Core Facilitators of the implementing schools.
Phase III held Dec. 17-18, is the OHSP Writeshop Module in the following learning areas: English, Mathematics, Science, Filipino, Araling Panlipunan and Music Arts, Physical Education and Health (MAPEH), among others. (RCA/PIA10-Misamis Occidental)
