DFA slates foreign service officer exams on Dec. 15
DAVAO CITY — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has announced that the second 2013 Foreign Service Officer (FSO) examinations will be conducted on December 15 this year, for the hiring of candidates for the position of Foreign Service Officer, Class IV.
Qualified applicants must be Filipino citizens, less than thirty-six (36) years of age on the day of the Career Service Examination and they should have at least graduated from a four-year bachelor’s degree course.
Applicants should also have undergone employment or have undertaken at least two years of further studies after graduating from college or university, DFA press release stated.
DFA advised interested applicants to personally submit on November 8, 2013 duly accomplished forms that may be downloaded from the DFA website (www.dfa.gov.ph) or may be obtained from DFA office located at the Third Floor, SM City Davao, Quimpo Blvd., Davao City or at the Civil Service Commission.
The required documents to be attached are the following: certified true copy (CTC) of transcript of records (TOR) from college or university and post-graduate schools; CTC of TOR of diploma or certificate of graduation from college or university and of post-graduate schools.
Certified true copy of TOR and diplomas or certificate of graduation obtained from a foreign school with English translation, or duly authenticated by a Philippine Foreign Service post must also be submitted.
The other required documents include: proof of past or present employment or further studies and original birth certificate issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) with the following terms:
For a Philippine citizen with dual or multiple citizenships: a notarized affidavit stating that upon passing the examination, he/she intends to renounce his/her oath of allegiance to his/her other countries of citizenship; he/she must also submit a notarized affidavit stating that he/she is a permanent resident in the Philippines.
For those born abroad : Report of Birth duly authenticated by the Foreign Service post may also be submitted in case the original birth certificate issued by the NSO is not available. A certification of non-availability of birth certificate shall be submitted along with the Report of Birth.
For married applicants: marriage contract issued by the National Statistics Office. If married to a foreigner, he/she must secure from the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, through the Board of Foreign Service Examinations authority to take the FSO Examinations.
DFA also required the applicants to submit ten copies of 4.5cm. x 3.5cm. photos (colored, with white background) taken within three months prior to filing of application; printed on good quality photo paper; in standard close-up shot; in bare face; showing the full frontal view of the face of the applicant; with the applicant’s full and handwritten (not computer generated) name tag in the format : first name, middle initial, last name, and extension name (if any) and signature over printed name.

Further, two self-addressed and self-stamped envelopes marked as priority mail, and two original valid identification cards (IDs) and copy of each ID are also required.
DFA said a non-refundable admission fee of P500.00 shall be collected from those who shall take the 15 December 2013 CSE-FSO only upon inspection and acceptance of their application.
The examination is composed of five parts: 1) Career Service Examination for Foreign Service Officer (CSE-FSO), 2) Preliminary Interview, 3) Written Test, 4) Psychological Test and 5) Oral Test.
