MWSS gives water conservation tips

QUEZON CITY – To minimize the impending effects of the El Nino phenomenon, which may bring reduced rainfall, water utility Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) has issued some water conservation tips to help save more water.
In a post on its website, the MWSS said the public should immediately repair running toilets and leaky faucets.
It advised them to turn off the tap when brushing your teeth, washing your hands, and shaving.
It would also be practical to take shorter showers; and never let the water run unabated while you wash dishes, it said.
When taking a bath, the MWSS said to use dipper from pail instead of running water from the shower and to collect the water you use for rinsing fruits and vegetables, then reuse it to water houseplants.
The company also suggested to designate one glass for your drinking water each day or just refill a water bottle as this will cut down on the number of glasses to wash.
It is also best to use recycled water (e.g., water used in dish-washing) for watering plants; and to collect water from your roof to water your garden, the MWSS added. (RJB/JCP/PIA-NCR)
